It is official Alpine Club Policy that ‘good style’ involves as many sports as logically possible for a given objective. Unlike the white granite of the rest of Sierra, the rock of the Palisades is uncharacteristically dark and ominous. Beneath their northern aspects, and eight miles from the ‘nearby’ Big Pine trailhead, is the largest glacier in the range.
